The Upcoming Obama Presidency

Posted October 13th, 2008 by The Reverend

It's over.

The "Race" has been won by Barack Obama and Joe Biden and the only mystery left is the final margin of victory.

No resurrection of Rev. Wright….no smear by association with Rezko or Ayers…..no repetition of Barack's middle name….none of it….will make any difference.

It's over.

For those who doubt….simply click here….to see where American voters are.

Now, allow me to riff awhile on what I see coming after Obama's historic win.

First….Obama's potential landslide win may bring with it a filibuster proof, Democratic controlled Senate. Even the brand name, Elizabeth Dole, (R-N.C.), is in trouble.

Filibuster-proof, or not, without doubt Democrats will shape and pass new legislation along the lines that Obama has been suggesting over the last two years. America will move to the left after having spent so much time in the ditch on the far right hand side of the road.

Taxes will be raised on those making over a quarter million per year. Capital gains tax rates for those who, at best, only shuffle paper, will return to Clinton era rates. You might remember the Clinton era….20 million new jobs, robust economy, working class actually advanced a bit.

Our military will slowly be removed from America's Occupied Territories in Iraq, we'll see a genuine attempt to wipe out Bin Laden and al-Qaeda, and a President Obama will bring respect, dignity and an adult approach back to America's dealings with foreign countries and their leaders.

America can begin again, as it were.

Second…..(and here my conservative readers will cringe)…..after having paid very close attention to what took place between the years of 1992-2000, I think it's safe for me to predict…..if you liked the savaging-Clinton days, you're gonna' just love the savaging-Obama days starting after January 20, 2009.

And that's where the current "rescue" plan comes into play. The obstructionistic storm clouds are already forming.

We've been told that the economic sky was about to fall. There was no time to waste, none. Yet, a month after the sky was officially announced to be falling….Paulson and Co. haven't done much, if anything, even after Congress voted to set aside $700 billion for, I guess, sky propping equipment. The imminent threat of a falling economic sky, much like the imminent threat of a Saddam powered "mushroom cloud", is/was primarily a political stunt. A stunt that McCain and conservatives could attempt to play off of in various ways….but a stunt that could accomplish one big goal for a failed Republican Party. Handcuff a President Obama and a Democratic Congress.

The braying can already be heard. Our own King here at Ohio.com has already begun the chorus by suggesting that the economic situation is so severe….Obama must set aside all new spending programs. Tom Brokaw, a self-absorbed, arrogant, boomer asshole of mass proportions, made a big deal in the last debate about, "What do you plan on giving up of your new programs…..because of this huge "rescue?" That Village question was only topped by the assholian Brokaw's completely phony question about the Social Security sky falling soon.

I don't believe our discredited main media, the most corrupt column of the Four Columns, will even wait for Obama to be inaugurated. No honeymoon at all. No waiting for Obama's first 100 days to be over before declaring war on his administration. It will be all out war the day after the election.

A media so corrupt, so perverse, that they couldn't even use the word lie or liar in any article they had written or on any teevee appearance for 8 straight years of an openly fraudulent and lying Bush administration…..will….magically…..snap out of the spell they've been under….and begin microscopically examining every word that Obama speaks. A main media so covered-up in their own mistaken, propagandistic, slime encrusted wrongheadedness for 8 straight years, a media who never really ever considered impeachment as worthy of discussion for the worst president America has ever known….will be balls-to-the-wall aggressive in not only savaging a President Obama but encouraging an obstructionistic-minded Republican minority to gum up the federal works with impeachment talk and accusations.

One final prediction of warning. When Bill Clinton won the presidency, Republicans (at least from 1994 onward), had control of Congress. From 2006-2008, though Democrats "controlled" Congress on paper, nothing could be passed because Republicans could filibuster and stonewall and W. could veto. That explains why Democrats couldn't pass a bill to get us out of Iraq. With the upcoming Obama presidency….Democrats will have near total control. This, in itself, will anger and frustrate the extreme right so badly that (I can't help but say this) actions of violence will follow. I believe that is what we witnessed last week at McCain-Palin gatherings. The first-fruits realization by the extremist nuts on the right that they've lost the game and lost it badly, is beginning to sink in.

The extremist right, believing they were so close to overturning Roe and bringing Jesus back into the public arena, will see this upcoming humiliating loss by conservatives in the election as a sign that God has finally turned his back on America. To the far right, that means that America deserves whatever bad stuff happens to it.

Happy to be wrong about the violence.

Also appropriate for my post here…

Update: John Amato over at Crooks and Liars said this yesterday….

"So because Obama knew Bill Ayers it completely justifies the psychotic reactions of McCain supporters. I'll keep saying this. Our country has been polluted by the Limabaugh, Savage, Hannity hate machine for years now and it's rearing its ugly head publicly for all to see. I'm telling you, violence it not far behind "my friends." Matalin wouldn't go as far as Sean when he stated that he didn't trust Obama." Link

Wow Reverend. Maybe it's time to get out and see a rock band or something.

  2. nick21 Says:

The race isn't over. There are many polls where Obama is down by up to 10 points. The talking heads have him elected but not the American people. Remember they were wrong about Kerry and Gore. The only violence will be when Obama is beaten and the press and community organizers shout that the election was stolen from him.

There are 3 weeks left. The Dems have used their Oct surprise. Now the race will get down to character and whose qualified with more experieince and not the issues or in Obama's case, his intentions.

The Dem party as usual is destroying it chances with it's associations and all McCain will have to do is tie them to Obama and it will shore up the undecided vote sink him like an anchor.

Also if you look at many of the races, the Dems aren't going to pick up enough votes to control congress. Maybe in the House but not the senate.
People aren't forgetting who went on vacation while Rome burned this past summer.

I can't wait for this to be over. I can't wait to see Keith Olbermans face on Nov. 5th/

  3. The Reverend Says:

larry: I did on Saturday night. Black Keys…E.J. Thomas.
Ate at Crave before the show. Wife and I had a great time.

The night out gave me a clearer head to write this particular post.

    Handwriting is on the wall.

nick21: Gore actually, you know, won.

Interesting to note that you must think the collapse of the economy, run by Republicans for the last 8 years, is, somehow, the Democrats doing. Interesting.

I hate to break it to you, the undecideds are breaking towards Obama.

Even Republicans are saying the Dems will most likely have 57 Senators after the election.

"while Rome burned"?? Oh, you mean, drill, baby, drill. Stupid, uninformed, ignorant people, perhaps, "aren't forgetting who went on vacation"…..but reality-based people realize drilling won't affect gasoline pricing for 10-15 years….and when it does…..it will be a monstrous 3 cent reduction per gallon.

I suppose that could be called "Rome burning"…..I would never call it that….but opinions vary.

  4. Roy Says:

No, Gore actually lost. You should stop repeating that lie.

  5. Da King Says:

    Rev,
I see you mentioned me in your post, old buddy, so…

About that govenrment spending that I believe needs to be reigned in:

We're are spending a couple trillion bucks on the financial crisis. We have over a $10 trillion national debt. We have $53 trillion in unfunded entitlement liabilities. We spent $165 billion on a stimulus package that didn't stimulate anything. Pelosi is proposing another $150 stimulus package that again, won't stimulate anything. We spend $500 billion for defense. We're spending a trillion on the war. We're bailing out the automakers. The stated federal deficit for 2008 was $438 billion. The ACTUAL deferal deficit for 2008 was over $2 trillion (the federal government keeps about 4 set of books now, to make the situation look less dire than it actually is). We have a massive trade deficit, particularly in energy, that sends $700 billion overseas.

If you can look at all that and NOT come to the conclusion that federal spending needs to be reigned in, then I must question your sanity. Obama plans to greatly increase federal spending, and that is pretty much the biggest reason I'm against him.

Speaking of sanity, I see you are again hinting at your moonbat conspiracy theory about how Karl Rove created the entire financial crisis in order to hamstring the coming Obama administration. I wish you'd put out another post about that. I'm a fan of fantasy fiction.

    Browns 35, Giants 14.

Upsets happen. Obama is leading by a touchdown in the fourth quarter, but the game ain't over yet.

If you want to know who the insane haters really are, check out some of the info at this link, about how the left thinks Palin should be stoned, raped, aborted, etc:

  6. Da King Says:

    Roy,
If the Rev stopped repeating lies, he wouldn't have anything to write about.

  7. The Reverend Says:

    Well…you have a choice.

Obama recognizes the serious nature of the economic problem and is willing to consider cuts as well as new spending. You fail to acknowledge this about him. That's fine.

But the candidate you will vote for…McCain….will wreck the lame-ass health care system we do have, putting another 20 million in the uninsured pile while at the same time taxing health benefits…if you have them now. In addition, McCain's focus on the economic problem is the same as the guys who led us the last 8 years. More tax cuts….especially for the richest.

I mean, are you kidding me? You've been defending the leadership of Bush-Cheney for a long time…..your only complaint is that they spent too much. The truth is….they have been maniacs in the area of tax cutting.

The very freaking reason why unfettered business is coming to the bailout party is because they were unfettered and f*cked everything up. It's clear what we get from a marketplace set free of government interference. That's why government must have control over certain vital industries….the free marketers can't be trusted.

    Once again….I don't lie.

I didn't say Rove created the problem…..I said Rovian people are taking advantage of the situation….and, as usual, their timing is either coincidence, or strategically planned. You would opt for coincidence…..you always do. Takes a lot of faith.

  8. Ben Keeler Says:

well this is a post i will bookmark just in case.

but "actions of violence will follow" is over the top. do you care to elaborate on this?

  9. The Reverend Says:

One such example would be the recent nut who opened up on a Unitarian Church group. Some have said, from bio info, that the guy was a big reader and believer in O'Reilly and the fellows. Unitarians are tolerant to gays. 2+2= go kill some of them.

Since Reagan, the extreme right in America has had a reputation for violence. I admit that it's a tiny minority, but it's been there.

Abortion clinic bombings, abortion doctor killings, gay bashing violence, I even think McVeigh could be considered far to the right. There are more examples. In my experience I've witnessed frustrated ultra-conservatives lash out in a physical way.

The entire belief system of far rightists is that might equals right, if done for a "good" cause.

Couple that with the close-to-frenzy time surrounding Bill Clinton's presidency….and I think the potential for violence with an Obama presidency, accompanied by a Democratically controlled Congress, will be high.

I don't want it to happen. I detest violence, I don't care who's creating it.

I also believe, and this is the larger point, that false narratives and race and anger-baiting by the Limbaugh's and the Hannity's out there…..have contributed to this perfect storm condition.

    Glad to be wrong.

  10. nick21 Says:

Rev - Hate to say it but Bush showed them how to lower oil prices. Threaten to drill! After he lifted the ban, oil has slowly declined. Miraculously the Nigerians stopped trying to bomb their own pipelines. Gas prices have dropped more than 3 cents in my neighborhood. In fact they dropped about $1.90. The Dems are also wrong about 10 years until we get oil if we start drilling. The oil company heads say 18 months to energy independence, tops. If the government and the environmentalists will work with them to achieve the goal. But the Dems are controlled by to many energy lobbiests to want to help us, such as T.Boone, Gore and the UN.

10 years was 70's technology and the Dems use that reference as a tool to keep their sheep feeling hopeless and under control, while Nancy Pelosi gets mega-rich from a $150K IPO with T Boone Pickens co., Cleane Energy Corp.

Stop spouting this garbage they are programming into your mind and look at the truth Rev. I agree with a lot of what you say, come to the "Right" side. We'll welcome you with open arms.

As far as this economy, to not blame much of this fiasco on Clinton would be wrong. Just like Clinton was the recipient of the gift of the Reagan / Bush years. "W" received the house of cards Bill left. I am not saying it was all Clinton's fault, but many of his policies and inactions have led us to where we are today.

Also I heard a report today that the polls the Obama people are releasing are very skewed. For him to win the way they are talking, 90% of Dem registrants will have to vote. Do you think that will happen? In actuallity Obama is at about a 30% to 70% disadavantage. And the more things like Ayers and AKORN and his ridiculous economic plan that keeps coming out in the press the more the Indy's are moving to McCain. The indy's aren't stupid, they just aren't as committed as others. Their attitude is voting for the lesser of 2 evils, not for their favorite candidate.

  11. nick21 Says:

Rev - the far right is prone to violence? I haven't seen much of that reported in the news. However I have seen many members of PETA throwing paint on people, protests for gay rights that get out of hand with them messing up private property. Abortion mills are murderous in themselves. Throw in some Washington govt building bombings by one of Barracks neighbors and friends. And the left wingers outside of the Primary Conventions wanting to throw Feces, Pee and Bleach on anyone. Sounds like another story of left wing propaganda. We call that projecting in the psychology field. hhhhmmmmmm?

  12. nick21 Says:

I will give ya the baby killing mill bombings, now that I think of it.

  13. Eric Says:

I agree with you 100%. Obama has been leading the polls all along and there is no doubt he will win the election.

  14. The Reverend Says:

The slogan of drill, baby, drill….is the poster child for winguttery.

George W. Bush's own Energy people, not 30 years ago, just recently, concluded it would be 10-15 years until oil from drilling starting now would reach the market. The same George W. Bush Energy people concluded that after that 10-15 years, when the oil reached the market, it would have a 3 cent reduction impact in a gallon of gas.

George W. Bush's people came up with those conclusions.

  15. nick21 Says:

Rev - Apparently that was before Bush decided to lift the ban. Maybe Bush didn't understand the question or understood that the threat of drilling would cause a decline in prices. Maybe he's part of the left wing conspiracy, who knows. He has made some bone head decisions. When he did lift the ban gas dropped almost 60 cents immediately not 3 cents. The ban being lifted and the fact we aren't using as much has caused it to plummet. Here is a question: do our politicians understand supply, demand and prices?

The head of Exxon said it on an interview with Glen Beck and said 18 mos to 2 years tops and we would start seeing oil from off shore. Apparently they have rigs ready and idol off shore. As long as they didn't have to wade through all of the lawsuits made by the environmentalists. They could also see oil from ANWR in 3 years or less. This is through new drilling technologies. This is what I've heard and seen.

  16. The Reverend Says:

Look at your sources. Exxon. Glenn Beck.

It isn't the technologies. It's the amount of oil under the ground. Geologists have new technology too….they say there isn't very much oil in North America. Not even close to making a difference.

    One more thing…

Oil is a monopolistic commodity. Prices are fixed by futures traders. There is no competition….none. Normal supply and demand expectations do not apply to a monopolistic commodity. That's why we witnessed prices going up WHILE demand was going down.

Two reasons why oil prices have come down recently. Profit taking by traders anticipating they had driven the prices too high and the realization sinking in that Democrats are going to control Washington.

I've seen this same movie in the late 70's early 80's. The only way out of the situation is conservation and alternate sources of energy. I have no problem with oil companies drilling offshore and even in ANWR….but it won't make a dimes worth of difference.

Appreciate the time you took to voice your well-stated opinions.
